Australian Capital Territory (A.C.T) Division
ALLA (ACT) Inc. began its life in July 1980 with the first meeting of the ACT Law Libraries Resources Committee. This group consisted of representatives of major law libraries in the ACT and libraries with large legal collections. Initially formed to coordinate and rationalise the purchase of major law resources in the ACT and ensure they were available to all libraries and practitioners in at least one site.
By 1985 the group had grown and changed its name to the ACT Law Librarians' Group. In 2002, the group incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act (ACT) 1991. At the 2007 Annual General Meeting the group voted unanimously to change its name to Australian Law Librarians' Association (Australian Capital Territory) Inc.
