Australia & New Zealand Email Lists

Members communicate via the email list alla.aus.nz which is primarily for Australian and New Zealand law librarians.

Details for subscribing and posting to the ALLA National e-list are outlined below.

  • This in an open list to members and non-members of ALLA

  • The list is administered by the ALLA List Moderator and is governed by a Code of Conduct

  • To post a message to all the list, send an email to allaanz@googlegroups.com

Subscribing to the ALLA email list

 

To sign up, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Google Groups https://groups.google.com/ 
    (i
    f you don't have a Google account, instructions are below).

  2. Select 'My Groups' from the left menu.

  3. In the search bar at the top of the page, select 'All groups and messages' as the search option,
    and then search for allaanz in the search bar.

  4. Click on the alla-anz group.

  5. Click on 'Ask to join group'.

  6. Your request will then be sent to the group admin for approval.

​

 

Once the moderator has approved your request you will receive an email.

The email may go into your Junk or SPAM folder, so please check it.

​

Once you have been approved you can then send emails to the ALLA email list: allaanz@googlegroups.com

​

It is recommended that you send the emails from your own email platform (such as Outlook, Gmail) not from the Google page.

 

If you do NOT have a Google account send an email to alla-lists@austlawlib.org so that we can add your details manually.

To Unsubscribe from the ALLA email list

 

Steps to unsubscribe:

 

Go to About (google.com)

Click on 'Leave group'

 

 

OR send an email to allaanz+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com

 

You will receive an email to say that you have been unsubscribed.

I do not have a gmail account. Can I subscribe to ALLA ANZ list with my work email?

Follow the instructions on the Google Gmail Guide: Sign in to your Google Account with another email address.

​

Once you have followed the instructions in the guide, following the instructions on subscribing to the ALLA email list. Ensure you are already logged into Google with your preferred email address.

Email List Code of Conduct

Divisional Lists

Some ALLA State and Territory Divisions operate their own discussion lists for matters of local concern. These lists operate independently of ALLA Ltd and are managed and funded by the relevant division.

​

Members are encouraged to cross-post any discussion to both their divisional list as well as the national alla-anz list. Divisions are especially encouraged to cross post announcements of events to the national list, as interstate members travelling to your state may wish to attend.

Australian Capital Territory

Western Australia

A local listserv "allawa" for members of the WA Division has been established to allow members to communicate on issues of local interest.

Other Lists

ANZACLL - Australian Academic Law Librarians list. The purpose of this list is to have an “academic” space to facilitate private discussion which is likely to be of interest, or relevance,  to academic law librarians only.  Membership is limited to academic law librarians, but the discussion is unmoderated. LAW-LIS - A UK list for news and discussion on legal information and law libraries. This list is for anyone to join.

​

BIALL (British and Irish Association of Law Librarians) - this email forum is for BIALL members only.

​

Law-Lib Listserv  - a US based list. The law-lib list is unmoderated, but you do have to be a subscriber in order to post messages to the list. Most of the subscribers to law-lib are law librarians. All types of law librarians are welcome on this list: academic, law firm, court, government, etc. Other individuals with an interest in law librarianship are also welcome to subscribe. To subscribe: send an email to 
listproc@ucdavis.edu. In the body of the email please type "subscribe law-lib first name last name."  Also see the FAQ page.

 

AALL (American Association of Law Librarians) - this association has many email forums. Most are open to AALL members only, but some are open to anyone to join.

CALL (Canadian Association of Law Libraries) - this list is open for anyone to join.

​

INT-LAW - this list is open to anyone to join and primarily serves as a forum for discussion and sharing of information concerning foreign, comparative, and international legal resources.
